David Byer Receives ASTM International R.A. Glenn Award

David Byer, senior manager of quality control and contract labs at Peabody Energy in St. Louis, Mo., is the 2007 recipient of the R.A. Glenn Award from ASTM International Committee D05 on Coal and Coke. This annual award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the development of ASTM standards relating to coal and coke.

Patrick M. Cole Receives ASTM International Ted Linde Leadership Award

Patrick M. Cole, chief chemist at ATI Allvac in Monroe, N.C., has been honored with the Ted Linde Leadership Award from ASTM International.  ASTM Committee E01 on Analytical Chemistry for Metals, Ores and Related Materials cited Cole for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the work of the committee.

ASTM International Kummer Lecture Award Given to George K. Chang

George K. Chang, project manager at The Transtec Group in Austin, Texas, has received the Kummer Lecture Award from ASTM International Committee E17 on Vehicle - Pavement Systems.  The committee honored Chang for his commitment and contributions to the advancement of vehicle - pavement systems and the development of standards.

ASTM International Honors the Late Carl G. Cash

ASTM International honored the late Carl G. Cash, P.E., by posthumously awarding him the Dudley Medal and the Cullen Award.  Cash was a senior principal with the structural and building enclosure engineering firm Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. In addition, ASTM International memorialized Cash and his significant contributions to ASTM by establishing a new committee award in his name.

Ned Keltner Receives ASTM International S.H. Ingberg Award

ASTM International Committee E05 on Fire Standards has honored Ned Keltner, owner of FIRES Inc. in Albuquerque, N.M., with the S.H. Ingberg Award.  The committee cited Keltner for his outstanding achievements in fire resistance research and in fire loss prevention, including the development of related standards.

Dr. Daniel Harrington Named to ASTM International Board of Directors

Daniel M. Harrington, Ph.D., president and chief operations officer, north, of the Lehigh Cement Co., Allentown, Pa., has been named to the board of directors of ASTM International for a three-year term.

Harrington, who became an ASTM International member this year, resides in Bethlehem, Pa.
