Ned Keltner Receives ASTM International S.H. Ingberg Award

ASTM International Committee E05 on Fire Standards has honored Ned Keltner, owner of FIRES Inc. in Albuquerque, N.M., with the S.H. Ingberg Award.  The committee cited Keltner for his outstanding achievements in fire resistance research and in fire loss prevention, including the development of related standards.

An ASTM International member since 1986, Keltner serves on Committee E05 and acts as secretary of Subcommittee E05.32 on Research.  In 1998, Keltner received an Award of Recognition from the committee for his contributions.  He is also a member of Committees E21 on Space Simulation and Applications of Space Technology and F23 on Protective Clothing. 

After receiving his bachelor's degree in 1964 from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Keltner began his career at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M. From 1995 until 2004, he was a senior engineer at Ktech Corp., also in Albuquerque, and has worked as a consultant since starting FIRES Inc. in 2004. His work has focused on thermal testing, severe accident experiments and thermal instrumentation. 

Keltner holds an M.S. and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, both from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. In addition to ASTM International, he is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
