Richard Danchik, a consultant based in Pittsburgh, Pa., has received the Moyer D. Thomas Award from ASTM International Committee D22 on Air Quality. The committee recognized Danchik "for outstanding achievement in the standardization of the sampling and analysis of atmospheres."

John T. Riley, professor emeritus, Western Kentucky University, has been appointed chairman of ASTM International Committee D05 on Coal and Coke. The 315-member committee is responsible for more than 75 international standards related to the effective industrialization of coal, including classification, sampling and preparation.

James Tann, president, Brick Institute of America-Mid East Region, in Canton, Ohio, has been appointed chairman of ASTM International Committee C15 on Manufactured Masonry Units. The 260-member committee is responsible for more than 60 international standards related to masonry units, including fired clay and shale, concrete and sand-lime units.
