Oliver Delery Jr. is Elected Chairman of ASTM International Concrete Pipe Committee

ASTM International Committee C13 on Concrete Pipe has appointed Oliver Delery Jr., Louisiana sales manager at Hanson Pipe & Precast in New Orleans, La., as chairman.  The 200-member committee oversees more than 55 standards published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards that relate to concrete pipe, including material specifications, test methods and installation practices.

An ASTM International member since 1982, Delery is active in Committee C13 and is the current vice chairman of Subcommittee C13.02 on Reinforced Sewer and Culvert Pipe.  In 2000, Committee C13 honored Delery with the Robert R. Litehiser Award for his contributions.

After graduating from Tulane University in New Orleans where he received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Delery began his career at Burk & Associates in New Orleans as design engineer in 1977.  He then moved to New Orleans Cement Products, where he spent the next 20 years in the positions of engineer and president.  He also worked for Choctaw Inc. before joining the staff at Hanson Pipe & Precast in 2002.  His work focuses on the design of drainage systems with a specific concentration on the design of concrete pipe and related products. 

Outside of ASTM International, Delery is a member and past president of the New Orleans chapters of both the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Public Works Association.  He is also a member of the Tulane University School of Science and Engineering board of advisors, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Louisiana Engineering Society and the American Concrete Pipe Association, where he currently serves as government relations committee chairman.
