ASTM International Committee on Technology and Underground Utilities Names Alison Ratliff as Chair

Alison Ratliff, national practice lead, asset management and operations at HDR Engineering Inc. in Las Vegas, Nev., has been appointed chair of ASTM International Committee F36 on Technology and Underground Utilities.  The 230-member committee is responsible for standards that address various issues associated with underground utilities in terms of use, maintenance and design.

Ratliff, who joined ASTM International in 2003, is active in various F36 subcommittees, and serves as chair of Subcommittee F36.60 on Infrastructure Asset Management. 

After receiving a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, Ratliff worked as project engineer at CH2M HILL Inc. in California and West Coast manager at Blackhawk PAS in Golden, Colo.  She joined the staff at HDR Engineering Inc. in 2002 as senior project manager and assumed her current position in 2006.  Ratliff's primary career focus is on asset management and planning, condition assessment and rehabilitation of pipeline systems.

In addition to ASTM International, Ratliff is a member of the Society of Women Engineers, the Water Environment Federation, the North American Society of Trenchless Technology and the National Girls Collaborative Project.
