ASTM International Award of Merit Recognizes Contributions of Alan D. Kupfer

Alan D. Kupfer, senior technical service engineer at Georgia Gulf Chemicals & Vinyls LLC in Plaquemine, La., has received the ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow from Committee D20 on Plastics. The Award of Merit is the highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to ASTM standards activities.

Lawrence Ingram Receives ASTM International Arnold H. Scott Award

ASTM International Committee D09 on Electrical and Electronic Insulating Materials has honored Lawrence B. Ingram, senior product development chemist at Alcan Cable, Williamsport, Pa., with the Arnold H. Scott Award. The award is given for outstanding achievement in the science of electrical insulation.

Henry E. Francis Receives ASTM International Award of Merit

Henry E. Francis, laboratory services manager, Kentucky Geological Survey, at the University of Kentucky in Lexington has been honored with an Award of Merit from ASTM International Committee D05 on Coal and Coke. The ASTM Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow is the highest organizational honor for individual contributions to ASTM standards activities.

Dr. John J. Friel Is Recipient of ASTM International Award of Merit

ASTM International Committee E04 on Metallography has presented Dr. John J. Friel, lecturer at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., with the ASTM Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow. The Award of Merit is the highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to ASTM standards activities.

Joseph W. Barsoom Receives Reinhart/Kuhlmann Award from ASTM International

BarsoomJoseph W. Barsoom, senior principal engineer at Parsons Brinckerhoff in Denver, Colo., has been honored with the ASTM International Frank W. Reinhart and Henry W. Kuhlmann Award. ASTM Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems cited Barsoom for distinguished and outstanding contributions on behalf of plastics piping standardization and for meritorious technical achievement within the committee.

R. James Galipeau Honored by ASTM International Committee on Plastics

GalipeauASTM International Committee D20 on Plastics has recognized R. James Galipeau, general manager at Intertek Plastics Technology Laboratories in Pittsfield, Mass., with the Award of Excellence. Galipeau was cited "for exemplary technical contributions, sustained participation and valued leadership in Committee D20."

ASTM International W.T. Cavanaugh Memorial Award Honors Donald E. Marlowe

Donald E. Marlowe, agency standards coordinator, Office of Science and Health Coordination, at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Rockville, Md., has been chosen to receive the 2008 W.T. Cavanaugh Memorial Award from ASTM International. Marlowe was cited "for outstanding and distinguished leadership in promoting national and international standards for medical/surgical implants and materials."

Katharine Morgan Receives ASTM International Margaret Dana Award

ASTM International Committee F15 on Consumer Products has honored Katharine E. Morgan, vice president of technical committee operations at ASTM, with the 2008 Margaret Dana Award.  Morgan served as ASTM staff manager for Committee F15 for 15 years before she was promoted to vice president in 2007.
