David C. Kibbe, M.D., M.B.A., principal, The Kibbe Group LLC in Pittsboro, N.C., has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee E31 on Healthcare Informatics. The 300-member committee develops standards related to the architecture, content, storage, security, confidentiality, functionality and communication of information used within healthcare and healthcare decision making, including patient-specific information and knowledge.

ASTM International Committee D22 on Air Quality has named James S. Webber, Ph.D., research scientist at the Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health, Albany, N.Y., as its new chair.  The committee consists of approximately 400 members responsible for more than 145 standards published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards.

ASTM International Committee D07 on Wood  has honored Robert H. White, Ph.D., research wood scientist at the Forest Products Laboratory (FPL), United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, in Madison, Wis., with the L.J. Markwardt Award.  White was recognized for his extensive contributions to the committee, particularly related to the development of standards for fire performance of wood in building construction.  

ASTM International Committee F15 on Consumer Products has honored Katharine E. Morgan, vice president of technical committee operations at ASTM, with the 2008 Margaret Dana Award.  Morgan served as ASTM staff manager for Committee F15 for 15 years before she was promoted to vice president in 2007.

Dr. Donald Archer, research chemist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Md., has received an ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow, the highest organizational honor for individual contributions to standards activities, from ASTM International Committee E37 on Thermal Measurements.

Ricky W. Magee, director of analytical services at Columbian Chemicals Co. (CCC) in Marietta, Ga., has received an ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow.  The Award of Merit is the highest organizational honor for individual contributions to standards activities.

Alex T. Lau, fuels blending and process analytics technical advisor in the engineering services division of Imperial Oil Ltd. in Ontario, Canada, has received an ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow.  The Award of Merit is the highest organizational honor for individual contributions to standards activities.

Michael Warskulat, director of technical service  at Evonik Degussa GmbH in Cologne, Germany, received an ASTM International Award of Merit and the accompanying title of fellow, the highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.

Michael Troedel, president of Troedel & Associates Inc. in Lake Villa, Ill., has been recognized with an ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow, the highest ASTM honor for individual contributions to standards activities.
