Dr. Walter J. Rossiter of W.J. Rossiter & Associates, Clarksburg, Md., has received the 2008 William C.

Torsten Bahke, Dr.-Ing., director of the German Institute of Standardization (DIN) in Berlin, Germany, will serve a three-year term on the board of directors of ASTM International beginning in January 2009.

Masami Tanaka, president of the Japan Testing Center for Construction Materials (JTCCM) in Tokyo, Japan, has been elected to the ASTM International board of directors for 2009-2011.

Warren O. Haggard, Ph.D., professor and Herff chair of excellence in biomedical engineering at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tenn., has been named to a three-year term on the ASTM International Board of Directors beginning in January 2009.

Toy S. Poole, Ph.D., a chemist in the Research and Development Center at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, Miss., has become a member of the ASTM International board of directors for 2009-2011.

Angie Shepherd, general engineer at the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in Pittsburgh, Pa., is one of two recipients of the 2008 President’s Leadership Award from ASTM International. 

Richard Brazill, a technical specialist in the Product Design and Development Division at Alcoa Technical Center, Alcoa Center, Pa., has received the ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow from Committee B07 on Light Metals and Alloys.  The Award of Merit is the highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to ASTM standards activities.

  Richard Peri, vice president of government and industry affairs at the Aircraft   Electronics Association (AEA) in Washington, D.C., is one of two recipients of the 2008 President's Leadership Award from ASTM International.
