Proposed ASTM Trampoline Standard Covers Frame and Enclosure Components

All interested parties are invited to participate in the development of a proposed new ASTM standard, WK18934, Safety Specification for Steel Frame and Enclosure Components of Consumer Trampolines. The proposed standard, under the jurisdiction of ASTM Subcommittee F08.17 on Trampolines and Related Equipment, covers the steel frame and enclosure components of consumer trampolines.

ASTM Declarable Substances Committee to Meet in Brussels

Developing Standards for REACH, RoHS and Similar Regulations Implementation

ASTM International Committee F40 on Declarable Substances in Materials will meet April 15-17, 2008, at the Renaissance Hotel in Brussels, Belgium. The purpose of the meeting is to continue developing the international standards needed in response to REACH and RoHS implementation.

Analysis of Asbestos Data is Subject of New ASTM Guide

A new ASTM International standard provides guidance for using data generated by ASTM standards in testing for asbestos in surface dust. ASTM D 7390, Guide for Evaluating Asbestos in Dust on Surfaces by Comparison Between Two Environments, was approved by ASTM International Committee D22 on Air Quality, part of Subcommittee D22.07 on Sampling and Analysis of Asbestos.

New ASTM Standard Covers Measurement of Water and Volatiles

Finding a way to accurately measure the water and volatile content of high baked phenolic coatings has led to the development of a new ASTM International standard, D 7245, Test Method for Measuring Total Water and Volatiles in Liquid Coatings Which Produce Cure Water Upon Heating.

Dynamic Drop Test to Be Used for ASTM Rock Anchor Standard

A new ASTM standard, D 7401, Test Methods for Laboratory Determination of Rock Anchor Capacities by Pull and Drop Tests, is the result of requests to standardize a test to determine dynamic rock anchor capacity that is used internationally in the mining industry.

Material Compatibility Issues Addressed in New ASTM Concrete Standard

The realization that concrete production is the result of a combination of several materials that are individually standardized, but which may interact in ways not governed by those standards, led ASTM International Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates to form Subcommittee C09.48 on Performance of Cementitious Materials and Admixture Combinations in 2004.
