ASTM International Vehicle-Pavement Systems Committee Honors Garry Aicken

ASTM International’s vehicle-pavement systems committee (E17) has presented its Billiard-Stubstad Award to Garry Aicken, technical manager at Kessler Soils Engineering Products.

Established in 2015 in honor of Gary Billiard and Richard Stubstad, the Billiard-Stubstad Award is intended to recognize individuals who have made exemplary technical, practical, and/or administrative contributions to the pavement engineering community through their standards development efforts.

Aicken’s career focus is construction of large complex facilities, ultimately specializing in project management after starting out as a field engineer. He took on his current career position at Kessler in 2008, the same year he joined ASTM International. Aicken was also part of the Bechtel Corporation for 29 years, constructing projects such as refineries, power plants, mines, and subway systems.

Aicken earned his bachelor and master of science in civil engineering from the University of Illinois in 1981 and 1983, respectively.
