ASTM International Announces Call for Papers for 2023 Aerospace and Aircraft Events

ASTM International has announced calls for papers for two aerospace and aircraft events, the 2023 Workshop on Transparent Enclosures and Materials, to be held Nov. 8, 2023, and the 18th Hydrogen Embrittlement Workshop, to be held Nov. 9, 2023, in Washington, D.C. The events are sponsored by ASTM International’s aerospace and aircraft committee (F07) and will be held in conjunction with the committee’s standards development meetings.

2023 Workshop on Transparent Enclosures and Materials:

The objective of this workshop is to provide the transparency community with up-to-date information on topics of interest and connect professionals in the transparent materials community.

Presentations are being solicited for this workshop in the areas of transparent materials, coatings, manufacturing, optics, testing and test methods, birdstrike, structural analysis, cockpit design, human factors, and any and all related areas. No written paper is required, only a 20-to-30-minute PowerPoint presentation. Individuals interested in presenting at the workshop are requested to send your 300-word abstract and author information to Daniel R. Bowman at Daniel.Bowman@udri.udayton.edu by Sep. 30, 2023.

18th Hydrogen Embrittlement Workshop:

At its inception, the ASTM Hydrogen Embrittlement workshop has been the only technical forum devoted to hydrogen embrittlement testing technology in the aerospace industry. Today, its scope has grown to include aspects of research and technology across many industrial sectors, including the fastener industry, automotive industry, and the energy sector. The workshop provides an ideal setting for professionals in the global hydrogen embrittlement research and testing communities to exchange ideas.

Abstracts for presentation are invited in all areas of hydrogen embrittlement, pure and applied research, technology including test methods, failure mechanisms, material susceptibility, coating interaction, predictive modelling, failure prevention, and other related topics. No written paper is required, and international participation is highly encouraged. Those interested in presenting at the workshop should submit a 250-300-word abstract to the event chairs Dr. Salim Brahimi (sbrahimi@indfast.org) and Dr. Sriraman Rajagopalan (sriraman.rajagopalan@cnl.ca) no later than Sept. 15, 2023.
