Major ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Conference Announces Program

A preliminary program for the 2021 ASTM International Conference on Additive Manufacturing (ICAM 2021) is now available. Sponsored by the ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence, ICAM 2021 will be held November 1-5, 2021 in Anaheim, California, USA.

This is ASTM International’s sixth annual flagship event related to standardization, qualification, and certification with an emphasis on industry-specific requirements addressing the entire AM process chain. 

ASTM International to Resume In-Person Committee Meetings in October

Today, global standards organization ASTM International announced plans to host their fall committee week in person, October 3-8, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, following a review of pandemic metrics, government guidelines, and member survey results.

ASTM International is committed to the health and safety of members and staff. The organization will be closely monitoring the guidelines set by the CDC, state and local governments, and the hotel venue to ensure compliance at the time of the meeting. 

ASTM International Signs Memorandum of Understanding with NSERC HI-AM Network

Representatives from global standards organization ASTM International and Canada-based NSERC Network for Holistic Innovation in Additive Manufacturing (HI-AM Network) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement will support closer cooperation between ASTM and HI-AM Network to support the development of additive manufacturing standards.

ASTM International and Burkina Faso National Standards Body Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Representatives from global standards organization ASTM International and Agence Burkinabé de Normalisation, de la Métrologie et de la Qualité (ABNORM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement will foster a closer working relationship between the two standards organizations.

The MoU also seeks to strengthen the relationship to enhance support for the needs of the people of Burkina Faso, continue growth of the economy of Burkina Faso, and aid in the development of Burkinabe national standards for health, safety, and the environment.

ASTM International Unveils Annual Report, Highlights Collaborative PPE Forum at Business Meeting

Global standards organization ASTM International held its annual business meeting today. The virtual event celebrated last year’s standards development successes, including efforts to support the fight against COVID-19, and unveiled the 2020 annual report.

ASTM International and API Partner to Harmonize Petroleum Standards in West Africa

Global standards organization ASTM International and the American Petroleum Institute (API) today announced a partnership on a project aimed at harmonizing petroleum standards in the West African region, with impact in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal. The three-year project is supported by the USAID Standards Alliance and managed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

ASTM International and HFES Announce Cooperative Agreement for Exoskeletons

Representatives of ASTM International and The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) recently signed a letter of cooperation supporting exoskeleton standards development. 

The letter of cooperation is intended to encourage technical excellence in exoskeletons and their enabling technologies through the application of standards. Additional goals include efforts to enhance technical knowledge and facilitate HFES’ input in the development of standards to reflect human-centric solutions.

ASTM International, IFC Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Global PPE Activity

Global standards organization ASTM International and International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote the use of personal protective equipment in select countries around the world.  

ASTM International to Host Informational Webinar on Global PPE Forum

Global standards organization ASTM International is set to host an introductory webinar on the recently announced collaboration forum on personal protective equipment (PPE). The webinar will take place Tuesday, March 16, 2021, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM ET, via Zoom. 

ASTM International Launches Student Chapter at UTEC in Peru

Earlier this week, global standards organization ASTM International launched a new student chapter at UTEC, the Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología, in Lima, Peru. More than 30 UTEC students, faculty, and ASTM representatives attended the virtual meeting to launch and celebrate the new chapter.

UTEC Student Chapter members will be ASTM student members and will be able to apply for student project grants and other academic awards offered by ASTM International. The chapter is sponsored by the ASTM precast concrete products committee (C27).
