Today, ASTM International’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) issued its third annual report, which highlights the organization’s ever-expanding research to standards portfolio, continued industry partnerships, growing list of workforce development resources, and more.

ASTM International and International Electrotechnical Commission Expand Cooperation Agreement

Representatives from global standards organization ASTM International and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) met recently and agreed to expand the scope of a cooperation agreement signed in 2017 that fosters streamlined standards development and reduces duplication of efforts in the global marketplace. 

The expanded cooperation agreement was signed by IEC General Secretary and CEO Philippe Metzger and ASTM International Vice President of Technical Committee Operations Daniel Smith. 

ASTM International Transitions to Virtual October Standards Meetings

In light of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and ongoing safety concerns for members and staff, ASTM International announced today that the October Committee Week meetings in Atlanta, GA, are now transitioning to all virtual.

ASTM International and EUROCAE Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Representatives from global standards organizations ASTM International and the European Organization for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The agreement will foster information exchange and cooperation in the aviation and aerospace sectors aiming to reduce duplication of efforts and to promote harmonization, interoperability, and compatibility of technical solutions in global aviation. 

ASTM International Awards $10,000 Scholarships to Four Graduate Students

Today, ASTM International announced the graduate student winners of four $10,000 scholarships for their studies in fields where technical standards play a crucial role. This year’s winners were chosen from a competitive pool of more than 50 applications.

The following candidates will receive the 2021 ASTM International graduate scholarships:

ASTM International’s Flagship Journal Receives Increased Impact Factor Rating

ASTM International announced today the Journal of Testing and Evaluation, the organization’s flagship journal, received an increased 2020 impact factor rating of 1.264, up nearly 45% from the previous year.

The impact factor is calculated each year by Clarivate Analytics and given to journals that appear in their database, Science Citation Index. 

ASTM International’s Geotechnical Testing Journal Receives Increased Impact Factor Rating

ASTM International announced today the Geotechnical Testing Journal received an increased 2020 impact factor rating of 1.469, up nearly 14% from the previous year.

The impact factor is calculated each year by Clarivate Analytics and given to journals that appear in their database, Science Citation Index. 

Launched in 1978, the Geotechnical Testing Journal covers test methods for soil and rock, sampling, nomenclature, and practices relating to the determination of properties and behavior of soil and rock for engineering purposes, and for soil as a medium for plant growth.

Major ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Conference Announces Program

A preliminary program for the 2021 ASTM International Conference on Additive Manufacturing (ICAM 2021) is now available. Sponsored by the ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence, ICAM 2021 will be held November 1-5, 2021 in Anaheim, California, USA.

This is ASTM International’s sixth annual flagship event related to standardization, qualification, and certification with an emphasis on industry-specific requirements addressing the entire AM process chain. 

ASTM International to Resume In-Person Committee Meetings in October

Today, global standards organization ASTM International announced plans to host their fall committee week in person, October 3-8, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, following a review of pandemic metrics, government guidelines, and member survey results.

ASTM International is committed to the health and safety of members and staff. The organization will be closely monitoring the guidelines set by the CDC, state and local governments, and the hotel venue to ensure compliance at the time of the meeting.
