Papers are invited for ASTM International’s Symposium on Shear Testing of Soils, to be held Jan. 29-30, 2025, in Houston, Texas. The event is sponsored by ASTM International’s soil and rock committee (D18) and will be held in conjunction with the committee’s January standards development meetings.

This symposium will provide an international forum for experts to discuss the need for the development of new ASTM standards used in laboratory ring shear, direct shear, direct simple shear, and triaxial compression testing of soils. This symposium also will provide a forum for experts to discuss the need for new or revised ASTM standards used in field shear testing, such as field vane shear, T-Bar, and more.

To participate in the symposium, authors must submit a 2 to 3-page abstract using the ASTM Extended Abstracts template found in the online Abstract Submission Portal no later than Aug. 18, 2023. To ensure your abstract was received into the ASTM database, please email symposia@astm.org and let us know that you have submitted an abstract.
