ASTM International Presents Forensic Sciences Award to Karen Reczek

ASTM International’s forensic sciences committee (E30) presented Karen K. Reczek with the forensic sciences award. The committee confers this award in recognition of continuous and outstanding contributions to the development of standards for E30 on forensic sciences and the forensic science industry.

An ASTM International member since 2015, Reczek also holds membership and leadership positions in International Organization for Standardization (ISO), American Academy for Forensic Sciences Consensus Body, and the SES: The Society for Standards Professionals. She has just completed her term from 2019-2022 as the NIST Ex-Officio to the Forensic Science Standards Board (FSSB) of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) for Forensic Science.

Reczek currently works as a social scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a position she’s held since 2013, where among other tasks she works with high level federal, state, local & private sector officials to coordinate standards development to identify and support development of standard activities and programs to meet federal needs. She graduated from Clarkson University in 1985 with a bachelor of science in social sciences and humanities, and from the University of Buffalo in 1987 with a master’s in library and information science.
