ASTM International Gary M. Kralik Award Given to Larry Parkinson

Larry L. Parkinson, former president of Interamerican Zinc Inc. in Coldwater, Mich., has received the Gary M. Kralik Distinguished Service Award from ASTM International.  Parkinson was recognized for his exceptional service to ASTM Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys.

A resident of Coldwater, Mich., Parkinson joined ASTM International in 1995.  He is active in Committee B02, where he serves as recording secretary on the main committee.  In 2002, Committee B02 honored Parkinson with an Award of Appreciation for his contributions. 

After graduating from the University of Missouri at Rolla in Rolla, Mo., with a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, Parkinson began his career as a plant manager with New Jersey Zinc Inc., where he spent 15 years in various management positions.  He joined Interamerican Zinc Inc., a leading company in the zinc dross recycling technology, in 1979, serving as president until his retirement in 2006.

In addition to ASTM International, Parkinson is a member of the Galvanizers Association.  He holds a master's degree in business administration from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa.
