Rey G. Montemayor Receives Sydney D. Andrews Scroll of Achievement from ASTM International

ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants has honored Rey G. Montemayor, chief chemist at Imperial Oil Ltd. in Ontario, Canada, with the 2007 Sydney D. Andrews Scroll of Achievement.  Montemayor was cited for his outstanding work in the field of petroleum products and lubricants and his many contributions to the committee. 

A resident of Camlachie, Ontario, Canada, Montemayor is an ASTM fellow and Award of Merit recipient.  In addition to Committee D02, he is active in Committees D01 on Paint and Related Coatings, Materials, and Application and D16 on Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Related Chemicals.  A former member of the ASTM board of directors, Montemayor currently serves as chair of both Subcommittee D01.35 on Solvents, Plasticizers, and Chemical Intermediates and Subcommittee D02.08 on Volatility. 

An ASTM International member since 1987, Montemayor has been recognized for his exceptional service to the Society over the years, receiving the Award of Appreciation and Award of Excellence from Committee D02 as well as the Award of Appreciation and Henry A. Gardner Subcommittee Chairman of the Year Award from Committee D01. 

At Imperial Oil Ltd., where he has been on staff since 1979, Montemayor's work focuses on analytical chemistry related to the quality assurance and testing of petroleum products, lubricants and petrochemicals.  A graduate of the University of the Philippines where he received his B.Sc. in chemistry, Montemayor holds both an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Michigan.
