Harold D. Bushfield, a consultant with Bushfield and Associates in Harrison City, Pa., has been honored with a 2007 ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow, the highest society recognition for individual contributions to standards activities. ASTM International Committee B07 on Light Metals and Alloys cited Bushfield for his outstanding contributions and leadership in developing standards related to specifications and testing of aluminum products and other light metals, and in the overall operation of the committee.

Chair of Subcommittee B07.03 on Aluminum Alloy Wrought Products, Bushfield has been an ASTM International member since 1996. In his years of working on B07, he has made significant contributions to many B07 standards, and he has successfully brought together ASTM groups to solve common issues. In addition, Bushfield has served as a link between ASTM and the Aluminum Association and their complementary activities.

In his career, Bushfield has focused on aluminum processing and fabrication, specification and standard writing, product management and aluminum metallurgy. Before becoming a consultant, Bushfield had been a quality assurance specialist with Alcoa, and he had previously held positions at Reynolds Metals, Olin Brass and Alumax.

In addition to ASTM International, Bushfield is a member of the Aluminum Association, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Welding Society. He holds a B.S. in metallurgy from Michigan Technological University and an M.B.A. in finance from Eastern Michigan University.
