ASTM International Visits Southern Methodist University

The full attention of undergraduate and graduate engineering students was directed toward the speakers on the evening of November 9th on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. There, representatives of ASTM International made presentations on the subject of technical standards to students interested in the field of fatigue and fracture.

Workshop Highlights Global Standards Strategies - CSA/ASTM Event Provides World Views on Standardization

Toronto, Canada, 26 October 2005--The standards executives and industry leaders from many of the world’s major trading partners gathered in Toronto today to attend the "Standardization Strategies: A World View" workshop. The event, co-sponsored by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and ASTM International, showcases the strategic role of standardization in today’s global marketplace.

ASTM International Supports Hurricane Relief Efforts

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina that devastated the Gulf Coast of the United States, ASTM International has made several donations in support of the relief effort. Monetary support was given by the organization as well as by ASTM staff.

ASTM International Launches Beijing Office

With a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 23, 2005, ASTM International established a physical presence in China. Building on years of successful cooperation with standards organizations in that country, ASTM International now has office space in Beijing to further positive standardization outcomes across the globe.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, ASTM International President, James A. Thomas, reflected,"Today is the day that we will mark on our calendar as a new day in an old friendship."
