Terry Woods of U.S. Food and Drug Administration Joins ASTM International Board of Directors

Terry O. Woods, Ph.D., leader of the Solid Mechanics Laboratory at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) in Silver Spring Maryland, USA, will serve a three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors.

CDRH focuses on ensuring that patients and providers have access to safe and effective medical devices and radiation-emitting products. Woods has been with the FDA since 1992.  

A member of ASTM International since 1994, Woods is an active member of the committee on medical and surgical materials and devices (F04) and serves as the chair of the subcommittee on resources (F04.01) and the subcommittee on material test methods (F04.15). 

Woods has been honored with several awards including the Manny Horowitz Award (2004) and the Service Award (2016).

Woods earned her bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in engineering science and mechanics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
