Rebecca S. McDaniel of Purdue University Joins ASTM International Board of Directors

Rebecca S. McDaniel, P.E., Ph.D., technical director at the North Central Superpave Center (NCSC) at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, will serve a three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors.

NCSC focuses on research, communication, technology transfer, and training, and works in partnership with several state departments of transportation and two Canadian provinces. The center is part of the Lyles School of Civil Engineering and supported by area state departments of transportation, the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, and industry. 

McDaniel has been in her current position since 1995, having previously served as a research engineer and manager with the Indiana Department of Transportation, where she specialized in pavements and materials. 

Currently, McDaniel chairs the ASTM International committee on road and paving materials (D04) and has been an ASTM International member since 2001. 

McDaniel holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in civil engineering from Purdue University, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Indiana University. 

In addition to ASTM International, McDaniel is a member of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists and the Transportation Research Board.
