ASTM International Plastic Piping Systems Specification Standardizes Improved Polyethylene Resin Technology

A new ASTM International specification recently approved by Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems standardizes improved technology in polyethylene resins that exhibit higher-temperature long-term strength rating for pressure piping applications. The new standard, F 2623, Specification for Polyethylene of Raised Temperature (PE-RT) SDR 9 Tubing, is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee F17.26 on Olefin Based Pipe.
 
F 2623 will be beneficial to producers, users and specifiers of hydronic heating systems and related applications, according to Frank Volgstadt, F17.26 member and president, Volgstadt and Associates, Inc. PE-RT tubing is primarily used for hydronic heating applications, snow melt, ice rinks, heating sports fields and heat transfer from paved areas (such as parking lots and roads) to nearby buildings.
