Registration Opens for Two ASTM International Medical Device Workshops

Registration is now open for ASTM International’s two workshops on Best Practices for Precision and Bias for Medical Device Standardization, and on Testing of Sports Medicine Medical Devices, both to be held May 7, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA. Both events are sponsored by ASTM International’s medical and surgical materials and devices committee (F04) and will be held in conjunction with the committee’s standards development meetings.

One registration fee will cover attendance for either or both of these workshops.

The morning workshop on Best Practices for Precision and Bias for Medical Device Standardization will provide a forum to exchange best practices for developing precision and bias statements for medical device standards. This will include an overview of current executive committee guidance for precision and bias, examples of successful round robin studies, and examples of how negatives can be resolved when initiated around precision and bias issues.

The afternoon workshop on Testing of Sports Medicine Medical Devices will identify new opportunities for standards and related products, with a potential outcome being the creation of a sports medicine product-specific subcommittee.

Workshop topics include:

  • Patches;
  • Sutures;
  • Suture anchors;
  • Meniscal repair devices; and
  • Interference screws.

Additional information is available from the technical co chairs:
