ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2023 Award of Merit – to Todd Nelson for his contributions to ASTM’s steel, stainless steel and related alloys committee (A01).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Nelson was recognized for his dedication to ASTM, skillful management of subcommittee A01.02, and his active leadership and other participation in the committee.

An ASTM International member since 2005, Nelson had been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Excellence (2017).

Nelson works as a director of applications engineering at SSAB Americas, a position he has held since 2009. His long-time career focus has been ferrous physical metallurgy and engineering management. In addition to ASTM International, Nelson is also a member of The Association of Iron & Steel Technology, ASM International, and Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International.
