ASTM International Honors Larry Kapustka with Brink Memorial Award

ASTM International’s committee on environmental assessment, risk management and collective action (E50) presented its 2021 Robert Brink Memorial Award to Larry Kapustka, senior ecologist at LK Consultancy since 2008.

The award was established in honor of Dr. Robert Brink, a founding member and leader in ASTM methods development on biological effects and environmental fate recipient.

Kapustka was honored, in part, for a long and rich career which began in academics during the 1970s and 80s, spanned into ecotoxicology for the U.S. EPA and for Ecological Planning and Toxicology, Inc., and has most recently continued into risk assessment and consulting. He has been a member of ASTM International since 1991.

Kapustka earned his bachelor of science in biology from the University of Nebraska in 1970, going on to earn a master’s degree in botany in 1972. He received his Ph.D. in botany and microbiology from the University of Oklahoma in 1975. His other professional memberships include the Ecological Society of America, the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, and the International Union of Radioecology.
