ASTM International Honors Chris Meyer with Top Annual Award

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2023 Award of Merit – to Chris Meyer for his contributions to ASTM’s temperature measurement committee (E20).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Meyer was recognized for his technical expertise, his drive for results, and his leadership in developing pivotal standards like ASTM E2846 and E2877.

An ASTM International member since 2000, Meyer has been previously honored by the committee with the Robert D. Thompson Memorial Award (2016).

Meyer works as a physicist in the Thermodynamic Metrology Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a position he has held since 1991. In this role, he is responsible for research in temperature and humidity standards, and developing improved methods for industry measurement needs.

Meyer received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1989, and his bachelor of science in physics from Haverford College in 1981.
