ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2023 Award of Merit – to Alexander Salenikovich for his contributions to ASTM’s wood committee (D07). 



The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. A leading expert in the wood engineering community, Salenikovich was recognized for his prolific work in codes and standards, well-respected research, and dedication to advancing D07’s goals.

An ASTM International member since 2001, Salenikovich had been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2007) and the Outgoing Chair Award (2021).

Salenikovich currently works as a professor in timber engineering at Université Laval, in Quebec City, Canada, an institution he has been with since 2003. He received his Ph.D. in forestry and forest products from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Blacksburg, VA) in 2000.
