Nathalie H.

A 2006 ASTM International Award of Merit and the title of fellow honor the contributions of Nathalie H. "Dee" Perkins, business development manager for The Bionetics Corporation in Newport News, Va., to the Society. Committee D19 on Water cited Perkins, former D19 chair, for her leadership in the administration, long-range planning and operations of D19 as well as her service and work on two groups, Subcommittees D19.02 on General Specifications, Technical Resources, and Statistical Methods and D19.05 on Inorganic Constituents in Water.

Perkins also lives in Newport News, Va.

Perkins has been involved in ASTM International activities since 1976 and has been active in the work of D19 throughout that time. She developed D19's initial long-range plan and served as a committee officer for many years. Perkins is currently organizing the committee's 75th anniversary celebration, which will be held in 2007. She also organized its 60th anniversary celebration and received a Special Service Award for that effort. Perkins is a recipient of the Max Hecht Award, which is presented annually to a D19 member who has performed outstanding work in the committee or in the field of water.

Perkins has been manager of business development for Bionetics since 1994, and previously held positions as project manager with Burns and Roe Services Corp., and as president and chief operating officer for Diversified Technology and Services of Virginia. She is responsible for the identification and development of existing and new business opportunities for a mid-size government services contractor and has experience marketing and managing technical and non-technical support services for defense and civilian agencies of the federal government.

A graduate of the University of Richmond with a B.S. in chemistry and an M.S. in analytical chemistry, Perkins is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists and a member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
