Michael J. Crewdson Honored with Top Annual Award from Key ASTM International Committee

ASTM International’s weathering and durability committee (G03) presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Michael Crewdson, managing director for Q-Lab’s worldwide testing services. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.
 
The committee honored Crewdson for outstanding contributions and leadership with a strong commitment to the improved test standards development for the weathering of materials.
 
An ASTM International member since 1983, Crewdson has previously been recognized with the Henry A. Gardner Task Group Chair of the Year Award (1997), the Frank W. Reinhart Award (1999), and the Award of Appreciation (2014). He is also a member of the ASTM International committees on building seals and sealants (C24), paint and related coatings, materials, and applications (D01), plastics (D20), performance of buildings (E06), nondestructive testing (E07), color and appearance (E12), SI practice (E43), solar, geothermal and other alternative energy sources (E44), corrosion of metals (G01), and joint ASTM/NACE committee on corrosion (J01).
 
Crewdson has served in his current position since 1994, having previously held positions at South Florida Test Service and Sub-Tropical Testing Service before joining Q-Lab. He holds a degree in marine biology from Heriot-Watt University. Crewdson has authored multiple technical papers, delivered weathering seminars, performed training, and presented at symposiums on three continents.
 
In addition to ASTM International, Crewdson is a member of American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, Cool Roof Rating Council, International Standards Organization, Vinyl Siding Institute, American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorist, and Society of Automotive Engineers.
