Kishore Nadkarni, Ph.D., Receives ASTM International Award of Merit

Kishore Nadkarni, Ph.D., president of Millennium Analytics in East Brunswick, N.J., will receive a 2005 ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow in June; he will receive the award for his extensive contributions to ASTM Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants. The Award of Merit is ASTM's highest honor for individual contributions to standards activities.

In his many years as a D02 member, Nadkarni has been a leader of small and large task groups and a chair of several D02 subcommittees. His extensive involvement in D02 work includes standards development, conducting interlaboratory testing programs, organizing symposia, editing an ASTM Special Technical Publication, and preparing a manual about ASTM petroleum test methods. He has been particularly involved in the growth of the D02 proficiency test program group, making recommendations for additional tests and products for the program.

Nadkarni began his career as a research associate at the University of Kentucky, and then became a research manager at Cornell University. He was a staff chemist for Exxon Research and Engineering and a research associate for Exxon Chemical Co. before forming his own consulting firm, where he continues to focus on analytical chemistry and quality management.

Outside ASTM International, Nadkarni is a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Quality. He holds a B.Sc. in chemistry, an M.Sc. in inorganic chemistry, and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Bombay.
