ASTM International’s environmental assessment, risk management and corrective action committee (E50), presented the Gwen Eklund Award of Excellence to Paul Sonnenfeld.
An ASTM International member since 1994, Sonnenfeld was recognized for distinguished service in providing quality content across E50 standards and training and addressing diverse new environmental issues. The E50 Standards include those that address risk-based corrective action, ecological risk assessment, environmental compliance, management of underground storage tanks, environmental risk management, and PFAS.
Sonnenfeld retired from full-time employment in 2022 after a decades-long career in regulatory compliance, safety, employee training and risk management.
In addition to ASTM, he is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, and the American Society of Safety Professionals.
