ASTM International’s committee on nonferrous metals and alloys (B02) presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Keith M. Hottle of Sandvik Materials Technology, Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, USA. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards. 

Hottle was recognized for outstanding leadership and service to the committee, as chairman of the group on refined nickel and cobalt and their alloys, and for numerous and sustained technical contributions to the standardization of nickel alloys and stainless steel alloy product specifications. 

A member of ASTM International since 1999, Hottle is also a member of the committees on steel, stainless steel, and related alloys (A01) and medical and surgical materials and devices (F04). He was previously honored with the Award of Appreciation (2011,2014, and 2017) and the Award of Excellence (2017)

Hottle, the director of quality and metallurgy with Sandvik Materials Technology, has previously with Ingersoll-Rand Company, RMI Titanium, and United States Steel Corporation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgy and materials engineering from Lehigh University. 

In addition to ASTM International, Hottle is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and ASM International.
