John Stieha Honored with Top Annual Award from ASTM International Plastics Committee

ASTM International’s committee on plastics (D20) presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to John Stieha, staff engineer – consulting, with Open Range Engineering, Pampa, Texas, USA. The prestigious award, which includes the title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.  

Stieha was honored for his dedication participation in the committee including significant technical contributions in the development and maintenance of standards and valued leadership service as a subcommittee and main committee officer.  

An ASTM International member since 2005, Stieha has previously received the Certificate of Appreciation (2006), the Award of Recognition (2010), the Outstanding Achievement Award (2013), and the Award of Excellence (2016). 

Stieha has held his current position since 2015, having previously served in a variety of roles with Celanese. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, and a master’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M – Kingsville.
