George Fechtmann Honored by Key ASTM International Committee

George Fechtmann, Corporate Fellow and previously the global manager of principal engineers with UL LLC, in Melville, New York, USA, was honored with the Arnold H. Scott Award by the ASTM International committee on electrical and electronic insulating materials (D09). 

Fechtmann was honored for outstanding achievement in the science of electrical insulation. He is also a member of the ASTM International committees on plastics (D20) and declarable substances in materials (F40).  

An ASTM International member since 1992, Fechtmann recently retired after nearly 45 years with UL. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and an MBA from Adelphi University.  

In addition to ASTM International, Fechtmann is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Society of Plastics Engineers, and a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of New York.
