Erin A. Boyle Wins ASTM International Mary R. Norton Memorial Scholarship for Women

ASTM International Committee E04 on Metallography awarded the 2006 Mary R. Norton Memorial Scholarship for Women to Erin A. Boyle, a graduate student studying engineering materials at the University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario. Her thesis is "Microstructural Effects on the Mechanical Properties of Carburized Low Alloy Steels."

Boyle is also a resident of Windsor, Ontario.

The scholarship, established in 1975, encourages female college seniors or first-year graduate students to pursue the study of physical metallurgy or materials science, with emphasis on relationship of microstructure and properties.

Boyle is a student member of ASTM International, ASM International, the Foundry Educational Foundation and the Society of Automotive Engineers. She also earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Windsor.
