ASTM International Honors Michael A. Reichenberger with 2024 President’s Leadership Award

ASTM International presented its 2024 James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award to Michael Reichenberger for his contributions to ASTM’s nuclear technology and applications committee (E10).

The President’s Leadership Award recognizes individuals early in their ASTM International career who have significantly advanced ASTM’s mission through extraordinary accomplishment, example, and vision. The award is given in honor of James A. Thomas, who served as ASTM International president from 1992 to 2017.

Reichenberger was recognized for the proactivity and enthusiasm he’s brought to the committee since joining ASTM in 2019. His ongoing list of achievements includes revision of key test method E481 and an important inter-laboratory study of test method E1297 for fast-neutron rates. He also serves as E10’s main committee membership secretary, making him the first point of contact for new members, and he’s been instrumental in welcoming young professionals into the committee.

Reichenberger’s career focus is radiation measurements, nuclear engineering, and nuclear reactor dosimetry. He currently works as a radiation measurement scientist at Idaho National Laboratory, a position he’s held since 2018. He earned his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from Kansas State University in 2017.
