Key Oil & Gas Standard from Bureau Veritas Now Available on ASTM Compass®

Standard DS-1® from Bureau Veritas, a comprehensive standard for oil and gas drilling operations, is now available in six volumes through Compass, ASTM’s online standards portal.

Developed in 1992 to help provide industry standards for downhole drilling tools, Standard DS-1 is now on its fifth edition and remains a critical resource for drilling and completion. This knowledge will now be accessible through the robust workflow capabilities of ASTM Compass.

The six DS-1 volumes cover the following topics:

  • Specifications for newly manufactured tubular drilling products
  • Risk-based design resources for prevention of drill string failure
  • Inspection of used tubular drilling and completions equipment
  • Specialty-tool maintenance (inspect, assembly, and testing) procedures
  • Inspection of drilling bits and reamer cutting structures
  • Aluminum drill pipe inspections

ASTM is delighted to offer the Bureau Veritas DS-1 Standards, available on Compass,” said Stuart Radcliffe, ASTM vice president of sales and marketing. “The DS-1 content, developed for downhole drilling, will now be alongside similar related content from ASTM and those from other key industry organizations such as API.  Thousands of businesses worldwide now rely on ASTM to provide instant access to the latest standards on a platform that provides unique workflow functionality. DS-1 further enhances the already comprehensive range of critical standards that ASTM is able to provide to the global energy industry.”
