Chris Noveral Honored with ASTM International James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award

Chris Noveral, senior mechanical engineer, design and engineering with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA, was recently awarded the 2019 ASTM International James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award. 

The President’s Leadership Award recognizes individuals early in their ASTM International career who have significantly advanced ASTM’s mission through extraordinary accomplishment, example, and vision. The award is given in honor of James A. Thomas, who served as ASTM International president from 1992 to early 2017. It is presented annually to two deserving ASTM International award members.  

A member of ASTM International since 2012, Noveral was recognized for his leadership in the development of ASTM International standards as part of his work on the ASTM International amusement rides and devices committee (F24). He was also honored for his efforts in promoting student participation in the committee.

Noveral has been with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts since 2018, having previously served as a project engineer for ATA Engineering Inc. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Penn State University. 

In addition to ASTM International, Noveral is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Institute of Steel Construction.
