ASTM International Top Annual Award Presented to Adi Chehna

ASTM International’s committee on textiles (D13) will present its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Adi Chehna of Textile Tech Services in Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA. The prestigious award, which includes the title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contribution to developing standards. 

Chehna will be honored for his recognition of his leadership and dedication to ASTM International’s committee on textiles, and his contributions as member, officer, and committee chairman, where his knowledge and expertise have significantly improved the ASTM standards and the overall textile industry. 

An ASTM member since 1979, Chehna has also received the Frank W. Reinhart Award, Award of Appreciation (1990), Honorary Committee Member (1994), Herbert T. Pratt Award for Excellence in Terminology, Special Service Award, Thomas R. Bainbridge Award for Editorial Excellence (2014), and the Honorary Membership Award from the committee.

Chehna is also involved with committees on forensic sciences (E30), forensic engineering (E58), and personal protective clothing and equipment (F23)

Chehna, president of Textile Tech Services, has held his position since 1983, having previously worked as a quality control inspector at Joan Fabrics Corp., and a research associate at Fabric Research Lab. He holds a bachelor’s degree in textile engineering from M.S University in Baroda, India and a master’s degree in textile technology from the Lowell Technology Institute.  

In addition to ASTM International, Chehna is a member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists and the American Association of Textile Technologists.
