ASTM International Sponsors Field Trip for Third-Grade Conshohocken Elementary Students

Third-grade students from Conshohocken Elementary School in the Colonial School District enjoyed a field trip to Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne, Pa., on Nov. 12 courtesy of ASTM International.

In conjunction with their current classroom science lessons, the students learned about ecosystems and had the opportunity to see and pet some of the animals in the Riverbend barn, including a turtle, gecko, snake, guinea pig and more.

ASTM International, based in West Conshohocken, sponsors several field trips a year to Riverbend for local elementary schools in the Colonial, Norristown and Upper Merion school districts.

Riverbend’s mission is to “teach environmental principles to children in Southeastern Pennsylvania through a direct connection with nature, inspiring respect for our natural world and action as aware, responsible and caring citizens.”
