ASTM International Soil and Rock Committee Presents Top Annual Award to William Edelen

ASTM International’s Committee on Soil and Rock (D18) has presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to William Edelen of Froehling and Robertson, Inc., Mint Hill, North Carolina, U.S.A. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.

The committee honored Edelen for long and distinguished service to D18 and outstanding leadership. He has been a member of ASTM since 1986, serving currently as the D18.90 subcommittee historian since 2009.

Edelen is a senior transportation engineer with Froehling and Robertson, Inc. He has been with Froehling and Robertson, Inc. for over 30 years and part time since 2015, having previously been a regional vice president, senior engineer, and branch manager.

In addition to ASTM, Edelen is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Geo-Institute, Association of State Highway Engineers, International Society of Geo-technical Engineers, Society of American Military Engineers, American Public Works Association, Charlotte Geotechnical Group, and the NC Association of Consulting Engineers Council.
