ASTM International Pesticides, Antimicrobials, and Alternative Control Agents Committee Presents Top Annual Award to Syed A. Sattar

ASTM International’s Committee on Pesticides, Antimicrobials, and Alternative Control Agents (E35) presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Syed A. Sattar, professor emeritus of microbiology, University of Ottawa, Ontario. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.

Sattar is being honored for many years of dedication to ground-breaking research in environmental microbiology and contributions to the committee. Sattar has been a member of ASTM International since 1993.

Sattar is professor emeritus of microbiology at the University of Ottawa in Ontario. He has also served as an assistant professor of microbiology at the University of Ottawa, and a lecturer in microbiology at the University of Karachi among other positions.

In addition to ASTM International, Sattar is a member of the American Society of Microbiology, Canadian Society for Microbiologists, Canadian Association for Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, International Water Association, Canadian College of microbiologists, and AOAC International.
