ASTM International Honors Wayne Maynard with Charles H. Irvine Memorial Award

ASTM International’s pedestrian/walkway safety and footwear committee (F13) has honored Wayne S. Maynard, ergonomics and tribology product director, risk control technical services with Liberty Mutual Insurance (Boston, Massachusetts, USA) with the Charles H. Irvine Memorial Award.  

The committee recognized Maynard for exceptional leadership and advocacy for public safety in pedestrian and walkway safety. An ASTM International member since 2002, Maynard is also a member of the consumer products committee (F15). 

Maynard has been with Liberty Mutual Insurance since 1978, serving in a variety of roles with the last 25 years dedicated to research translation and product development including 17 years at the former Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety in Hopkinton, MA. He holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology with a premed emphasis from the University of Maine. 

In addition to ASTM International, Maynard is also a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and the American Society of Safety Professionals. He is a certified safety professional and certified professional ergonomist.
