ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2024 Award of Merit – to Robert Lozano for his contributions to ASTM’s geosynthetics committee (D35).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Lozano was recognized for his valuable 22-year tenure with ASTM and his role as chair of D35’s terminology subcommittee, through which he showed great patience in the effort to harmonize ASTM’s terminology with other international standards.
An ASTM International member since 2001, Lozano has been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2012) and the Award of Recognition (2014).
Lozano works as a product line manager for geosynthetics at The Reinforced Earth Company, a position he has held since 2010. His career concentration is highway design and geotechnical engineering, and his current focus is on product development, implementation, and strategy for geosynthetics.
