ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Mary Stroup-Gardiner for her contributions to ASTM’s committee on road and paving materials (D04).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Stroup-Gardiner was recognized for her sage advice, ready pursuit of practical knowledge, and willingness to lead during her years in D04.
An ASTM International member since 1989, Stroup-Gardiner had been previously honored by the committee with the Distinguished Service Award (2000), the Honorary Membership Award (2004), the Award of Appreciation (2009), the Outgoing Chair Award (2013) and the Prevost Hubbard Award (2019).
Stroup-Gardiner is owner of Gardiner Technical Services, a position she has held since 2010. Her decades-long career consists of work and research in highway construction processes, materials and testing. She is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Society of Engineering Educators (ASEE).
