ASTM International Honors Mark Rumizen with Top Annual Award

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Mark Rumizen for his contributions to ASTM’s petroleum, liquid fuels, and lubricants committee (D02).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Rumizen was recognized for his advocacy for ASTM standards, his keen leadership, and the savvy application of his insights as a representative of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to enhance D02’s standards development work.

An ASTM International member since 1997, Rumizen had been previously honored by the committee with the Eagle Award (2021) and the Award of Excellence (2009), as well as with the Award of Appreciation from ASTM’s light sport aircraft committee (F37) (2003).

Rumizen works as director of regulatory affairs and quality in aviation at Air Company Holdings, a position he has held since 2023. He is also a member of the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuel Initiative (CAAFI), the Coordinating Research Council (CRC), and the International Association of Stability and Handling of Fuels (IASH).
