ASTM International Honors Ian P. Mylrea with James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award

Ian P. Mylrea, research and development manager with Stanhope-Seta, Surrey, United Kingdom, was recently named the recipient of the 2017 ASTM International James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award. ASTM International president Katharine Morgan will present Mylrea with the award during the June standards development meetings of Committee on Petroleum Products and Lubricants (D02).

The James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award recognizes individuals early in their ASTM career who have significantly advanced the organization’s mission through extraordinary accomplishment, example and vision. The award honors former ASTM International president James A. Thomas, who held the position from 1992 to 2017. It is presented annually to two deserving ASTM International members.

A member of ASTM International since 2010, Mylrea is being recognized for immediate, significant impact on and leadership of ASTM International Committee on Petroleum Products and Lubricants (D02). In 2014, he received the Award of Appreciation from the committee. Mylrea holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.

In addition to ASTM International, Mylrea is a member of the Energy Institute, and participates in standardization through the British Standards Institute (BSI) and the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
