Darwin E. Millard, chief science officer, Canada at the Final Bell Corporation, was awarded the 2021 ASTM International James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award.

The President’s Leadership Award recognizes individuals early in their ASTM International career who have significantly advanced ASTM’s mission through extraordinary accomplishment, example, and vision. The award is given in honor of James A. Thomas, who served as ASTM International president from 1992 to 2017. 

A member of ASTM International since 2017, Millard is being recognized for his dedication and leadership to the cannabis committee (D37), resulting in the development of new ASTM standards for this growing and emerging area. He has previously been recognized by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2020). 

Millard has more than 14 years of experience in the manufacturing of cannabinoid extracts and herbal products from a cannabis plant. He has helped found several cannabis science consulting companies, including Plant Consulting Group, LLC, Millard Masonek Solutions, and TSOC, LLC. He continues to do consulting with these businesses in addition to his current role at Final Bell Corporation.

Millard holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder. In addition to ASTM International, he is a member of the National Cannabis Industry Association and Indian Industrial Hemp Association.
