ASTM International Environmental Assessment, Risk Management and Corrective Action Committee Presents Top Annual Award to William R. Weissman

ASTM International’s Committee on Environmental Assessment, Risk Management and Corrective Action (E50) will present its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to William R. Weissman, formerly of Venable LLP, in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards. The committee will honor Weissman this week as part of their April standards development meetings.

Weissman is being honored for outstanding contributions developing and administering standards, through research, extensive constituency outreach, mentoring leaders, thoughtful dialogue, creative solutions, and conciliatory leadership to ASTM International and the committee. Weissman has been a member of ASTM International since 1995, and has previously received the Service Award (2012) and the Distinguished Service Award (2000).

Weissman is a retired former partner with Venable LLP. He has previously served as partner with DLA Piper US LLP, and Wald Harkrader & Ross. He also served as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, and a law clerk to U.S. district judge Sarah T. Hughes.

In addition to ASTM, Weissman is a member of the American Bar Association, and the District of Columbia U.S. Supreme Court Bars.
