ASTM International Copper and Copper Alloys Committee Presents Top Annual Award to James H. Michel

ASTM International’s Committee on Copper and Copper Alloys (B05) will present its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to James H. Michel of The Copper Development Association, in New York, New York, U.S.A. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.

The committee is honoring Michel for outstanding leadership, continuous technical development of committee personnel, and for numerous technical contributions to copper and copper alloy standards across ASTM International technical committees. Michel has been a member of ASTM International since 1998, had has previously received the Award of Appreciation (2012), and the Arthur Cohen Memorial B05 Distinguished Service Award (2014). He is also a member of the Committee on Nonferrous Metals (B02).

Michel is the technical services manager with The Copper Development Association, and has been with the organization since 2007. He previously held positions with The Platt Brothers & Company, AMAX Corporation, Chase Brass & Copper Co., and others.

In addition to ASTM, Michel is a member of ASM International, the American Foundry Society, NACE International, and the Metallurgical Society.
