Hironari Abe, president of Nippo Sangyo Co., LTD, in Kokubunji, Japan, has received the Tilton E. Shelburne Memorial Award from ASTM International Committee on Vehicle – Pavement Systems (E17).
A member of ASTM since 1992, Abe was specifically recognized for his outstanding work, stimulation of research, dissemination of knowledge, and the development of principles, techniques, and standards for vehicle – pavement systems.
Abe has been president of Nippo Sangyo Co., LTD since 1968, having previously served with the Shima Trading Co., LTD. Abe holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Kumamoto Gakuen University, and a Ph.D. in civil engineering and architecture from Muroran Institute of Technology.
